Report to The EU Commission | EU Acquis Review | The Package Travel Directive | Political Lobbying | HolidayTravelWatch
The issue of Consumer Detriment in holiday contracts demonstrates many reports of holiday illness/sickness, holiday accidents, changes to holidays, flight changes and poor customer service. HolidayTravelWatch has submitted a report to the EU Commission enquiry into the consumer ‘acquis’, expanding on its earlier report to the DTI, citing further consumer detriment.
We also comment on the effect of the R v CAA ruling and comment on wider and more coherent consumer protections, in the quest to create a more consumer aware open market. We call for a strengthening of the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (UCPD) and a widenening and balancing of the current Package Travel Directive.
