The Unfair Trading Regulations were introduced into UK domestic law, following the introduction of the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive. You could be forgiven for not noticing one of the most important pieces of Consumer Legislation to be introduced into UK Law; very few people and suprisingly some organisations are not aware of this excellent piece of Consumer Law. It creates three specific offences; misleading actions, misleading omissions and aggressive commercial practices. In the field of travel law and holiday complaints it should be viewed as an important companion to The Package Travel Regulations. It has extensive rights and powers and our articles show how this complex law could be used to the Consumer’s advantage. What the Consumer needs now is the support and action of the enforcing authorities!
