Frank Brehany is the Managing Director and Consumer Director of HolidayTravelWatch Limited (“HolidayTravelWatch”).

Frank began his working life as a Police Officer, working principally in the busy city centre of Birmingham. He had to take early retirement from his chosen career following an injury he sustained whilst on duty.

Frank then decided to develop his legal skills and went on to study Law and gained a 2:1 LLB (Hons); this was followed by a further period of study and entry at the age of 40 into the legal profession as a trainee solicitor.

His training contract was undertaken with Irwin Mitchell Solicitors in Birmingham and, during this time, he played a leading role in the day to day management and the development of the then fledgling Travel Law Department, under the supervision of two partners.

It was during this period, within the Travel Law Team, that Frank formed a close bond with the Founder of HolidayTravelWatch, Brenda Wall.

In 2000, Frank left Irwin Mitchell to work in other areas of law.  He continued his legal practice and gained experience in Clinical Negligence and Human Rights work and provided advocacy assistance to clients in the Coroners Courts.

In 2003, Brenda Wall was diagnosed with Terminal Cancer and Frank was asked by Brenda to join her and develop HolidayTravelWatch into the Organisation we see here today.

From that period, Frank worked to develop HolidayTravelWatch, but also gained external experience by working within Public Bodies (working part time), helping to investigate multi-million pound frauds and cold case reviews.   From 2005 (working in short term/part time fixed contracts), Frank maintained his legal practice experience by working within Irwin Mitchell, dealing with serious domestic neurotrauma and fast track civil claim cases. 

Frank is not currently contracted to any Law Firm but maintains his practising certificate.

He believes that by maintaining his skill set, it provides a clear and positive benefit to clients who contact HolidayTravelWatch.  It is his and was indeed Brenda Wall’s goal that the Organisation would continue to provide free guidance & assistance to travel consumers; a service which is independent, a service that provides its guidance without fear or favour and promotes confidence to holidaymakers and independent travellers in a safe Consumer environment.

Frank provides daily guidance, along with other advisors, to UK and non-UK holidaymakers and where appropriate (where time permits), he provides pro-bono assistance to holidaymakers in difficulty.

He remains passionate in his defence of travel consumers but also believes that any debate in defence of their rights must be carried out in an atmosphere of respect and dignity.

Frank writes extensively on travel related matters and has developed his skills further in the political arena and through making short films providing information or commentary on travel related issues.

He takes package holidays and has made his own travel arrangements to destinations throughout Europe, Middle East, North America, the Pacific and South Africa.

Frank speaks French and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
