The HolidayTravelWatch Online Survey - Aerotoxic or Sick Aircraft Syndrome?

We continue to be concerned with the lack of progress on protecting the lives and health of aircrew and passengers on board aircraft. Fume or smoke events hide a perilous secret and the real risk of ill health or worse, if pilots become incapacitated! It would appear that the main cause is the bleed air supply offered by most aircraft - this results in toxins excaping into the cabin or cockpit within aircraft. The debilitating diseases suffered by aircrew and passengers are real and have a massive impact upon their lives. Governments and the Aviation Authorities cry, ‘there is no data’ or ‘we have no complaints’! In a small Facebook survey (9/11/07), we determined that 15% experienced smoke or fumes in an aircraft; 5% reported illness! Based on January 2008 aircraft movement statistics over the UK, we estimated from that survey, that some 39,612 aircraft had been affected by fumes or smoke in or over the UK in that month! By taking part in this survey you will provide a valuable insight into this major issue and contributing to the pressure that we can bring to bear on this important issue - thank you for taking part!
