In this latest edition, our lead article highlights the growing trends at the start of the 2008 main holiday season. We note the ’smorgasbord’ approach by travel companies, which fails to ensure that travel consumers are treated fairly!
Our main article deals with the problem of no insurance cover to risk destinations, suggesting a course of action to be followed by the travel consumer. Our guest feature is written by the President of International Cruise Victims, which provides an update on how cruise companies are being called to account for their inaction. We supplement that article with a case study of a serious cruise ship incident, reported to us by a British Family.
We highlight a safety issue regarding the use of carbon-fibre composites in aircraft, noting the failure of current testing methods, which led to a serious incident on board a Canadian passenger aircraft. We ask how long must passengers wait before correct testing of carbon-fibre aircraft is made? HTW has noted that amongst the submissions to the Committee on Toxicity (COT) it has been suggested that the symptoms highlighted by crew and passengers were akin to the condition of hyperventilation.
HTW has for many years received reports from concerned holiday makers or independent travellers as to the safety of their aircraft, ship or boat, train or road transport.
