Oia | Santorini | Holiday Resort Review
Oia, a village the north end of the island of Santorini is considered one of the best places in the world to view a beautiful sunset. So, this seemed the best location on the island. Be prepared for a bit of a trek to get to your hotel though. After a 45 minute taxi ride, which could only be described as a close re-enactment of ‘The Italian Job’, you arrive at the village square. From there donkeys carry your luggage the quarter of a mile up and down steps to the hotel perched on the side of the volcano caldera.
As you can see from the photo’s the trek is definitely worth it. The hotel was fantastic, with a pool that sat both inside and out and the weather was beautiful all week long.
The food in the many restaurants in Oia was great and I particularly liked the laid back atmosphere of a place called Skala.
And a trip to one of the vineyards is a must if you like wine.
All in all I loved Oia and Santorini and would definitely recommend it. Just be prepared to climb LOTS of steps!!
