      Hi,
I have just arrived back from sargermie holiday village today sept 5th.Myself, husband and daughter 16, and son 13. We arrived on fri 29th august at 7am approx, but Sunday early hours of morning i statrted having stomach cramps and severe headaches ,by 8am the cramps were getting worsre,i just thought i had a dicky stomach,i didnt eat for a couple of hours then had lunch after about an hour had severe diarrhea, this happend throughout the day but i just thought it was a normal stomach upset. I had been sitting by the pool and another lady asked me if i had this stomach bug that was going around,it was then i realised that other people were suffering.i popped down to see docter and he told me i was dehydrated and said he would give me tablets for the sickness-i explained i wasnt feeling sick just had really painful stomach cramps and diarrah he told me to drink plenty water and if in 2 daysI i was still the same to go back and he would have to put me on a drip! at this point i thought this sounds more than just a holiday bug, so iwent up to see the rep to tell her about it and ask if other people had been complainig about it and she was quite off hand and said i was dehydrated!! and not to sit in the sun too long i explained to her that i had been there for 48hrs and the first day had been in shade all day as we were very tired from journey, i then asked her if other guest had been to see her to complain and she said only a handful and there was nothing to worry about, although by this time tere was a queue behind me for people to see her and the other rep that was on duty and these people were there for the same reasons, i then told her i would like to make an official complaint which i did and have a copy of, this carried on for next couple days by the monday my daughter had started to feel unwell with same symptoms and so did my soat this point they just had headaches and stomach pain,,tuesday things still the same went back to see rep to tell her about the children she said to make sure they drinking plenty and said maybe i should see the doctor, but still said nothing to worry about, tuesday daughter in room allday had nothing to eat allday ,wednesday we all feeling really lousy,my husband went to doctor surgery but said the place wasso busy they were queing outside, by late afternoon my daughter had started vomiting and diarrah and my son had severe headahe and dirraah,i wa so woorried i went down to doctor and aske him to come to room as my daughter would was to weak to walk to the surgery,he came about 40mins later and examined my daughter and said she would have to go to hospital because she was so ill, raging temperature, shivers, he said she would not be able to keep any medication down orally he also advised that my son should go too.(at this point throughout day my symptoms had lessened so i wasnt too concerend about myself) so he got a wheelchair and took her to doctors bay there was other people there a man on stretcher on waiting to go hosp, we arrived at hosp and the both children were admitted and put straight on intravenous drips about an hour and half later my own symptoms had worsend and i was admitted and put on drip,we ended up spending 2 nights in hosp and was discharged thursday miday. This was the worst holiday that i have ever had out of the 7 days i was ill for 5 of them, there is more to add to this letter about the reps at resort and there unsympathetic manner in which they dealt with the whole situation.First choice had said only 1percent of people in hotel had bug this is load of rubbish i would say a much more on our side of hotel orange side i would say over a hundred people, also blue side had it.blue side of resort had letters to say rooms were being fumigated. We went home early hours fri morning and i couldnt wait, my son started to feel ill again and we managed to keep our room till 3am pick up after having strong words with rep, at 1am friday morning started to have cramps and diarrah again. My husband asked rep if she could speak to one of her colleagues at airport to see if we could have seats near to toilets she said go to see doctor! this was 1.30am in morning i just wanted to go home, managed to get seats at front of plane after having plead with rep, had diarrah all way home. Went to see my own doctor as soon as i got home and she has told me that i need to have very basic diet for next couple days and go back next week if not any better.i have also lost 5lbs in weight.

We went to HV Sarigerme from 1st to 16th September 2008. Firstly, I’d like to say that the hotel itself is beautiful, if not enormous. The hotel staff work hard and the surroundings and cleanliness are outstanding. It’s just a shame it’s then let down by First Choice. The majority of the FC reps are no more than kids, who are there to have a good time and are not interested in dealing with any problems. I don’t know whether the diarrhoea and vomiting was due to the hotel cleanliness or food hygiene, but it was the attitude of the Reps that appalled me, more than anything. They couldnt have cared less. My husband contracted diarrhoea on the 3rd day of our holiday and was left weak and very unwell for the following 3 days whereby he could hardly leave the room and if he did, he had to make sure he wasnt far away from the toilet. My daughter got it for one day (thank god) and my son got it two days before we came home……….it was the way in which the reps dealt with the problems and concerns of its customers. There was one day that the swim instructor told everybody to get out of the pool because of excrement and the next minute, we were told we could get back in. I went and spoke to him to ask if it had been a false alarm and was told by him that “no it wasnt a false alarm, but it was OK – cos it depended what type of poo it was”. I asked him what he meant by that and he added “if it’s a solid one then we just fish it out and everyone can get back in, no harm done, but if it’s a loose one then we have to shut the pool and clean it”. He added “it was obviously a solid one”. It was said, so matter of factly. Needless to say no-one did return to the pool, except him along with a child for their swimming lesson. Less than 10 mins. later somebody else came along and said that the pool was shut for at least 2 hours. I approached him again asking “what now”. He responded with “oh, it was obviously a loose one after all”. How are people meant to relax and enjoy their holiday with this sort of behaviour. I still cannot believe that it was thought OK to carry on swimming in a pool if a solid poo had been done. When we asked other reps about the reports of Salmonella and/or infection – we were fobbed off with “it’s no big deal” sort of attitude and yet people were being admitted to hospital. On the 1st day of our second week, I had an accident whereby I fell off some steps by the jacuzzi pool and was taken by ambulance to hospital with a suspected broken ankle. Turns out I’d torn the ligaments in my ankle and heel. Nevertheless I was put in plaster and bought back to the hotel with crutches. It became evident that I was not going to get around very well with crutches considering how big the place was and all internal areas were covered in marble. We asked for the use of a wheelchair, which we were aware they had on site. We were told by the FC reps that we’d have to pay to hire it, at £5 per day. We told a rep that we didn’t feel this was right as the accident had happened on their resort, on their steps, through no fault of mine. One Rep responded with “it’s not our hotel and their not our steps, if you’ve got a complaint speak to the Hotel Guest Relations”. We pointed out that the steps were unsafe as they had no gripper tape, no handrail, not even a sign stating SLIPPERY WHEN WET and yet these steps were close to the pool areas, so would obviously become wet during the day. This was met by a “SHRUG” from the rep with a “It’s not our problem, like I say take it up with the Hotel”. Unfortunately, for us, the hotel did nothing either stating that if they agreed to me having a wheelchair free of charge, then they are admitting liability. I could go on and on, but I’d probably bore you all stupid (if I havent already). My main grievance about the whole experience is, if there was an epidemic of sickness/diarrhoea and it was as bad as it was, FC should not have been allowing people out there until it was under control. It certainly was not under control while we were there. In fact FC didnt even mention it, until well into our first week there, when we got a letter under our door, stating that it was a “Virus” and less than 1% of guests were affected. I do not believe this – nearly every family we spoke to had had somebody affected by it. When you have saved all year to have a decent holiday with your family, you don’t expect to end up seriously ill and in hospital, especially when you take all precautions to ensure your own safety. Lots of people have mentioned in other sites that “if you made sure you washed your hands then you’d be OK”. NOT TRUE – We took every precaution necessary and still became ill.
